Mindfully Eating talks about your relationship with the food you are eating. Ask yourself “How Are You Eating?”
After bariatric surgery, as your diet starts to progress, it is important that you thoroughly chew your food, and eat slowly. We like to recommend no more than two bites per minute to ensure that you are chewing your food enough to digest easily.
We also recommend that you withhold from drinking any liquids 30 minutes before and after meals, this is so that you don’t fill up on liquids, and still have room for the foods you plan to eat. Waiting to drink liquids after a meal will minimize discomfort, and will make sure that you don’t push food through too quickly.
It is recommended that bariatric patients eat around every 4 hours, this will ensure that you are getting adequate nutrition, while minimizing discomfort. We also recommend that you avoid alcohol for about 8 weeks after your bariatric surgery.
